Family Parasites

In most normal families, the elders are respected
But there are descendants that keep theirs neglected
Only coming around when they see an opportunity
To get something for nothing from their familiar community

Just look at them! They call themselves family
Claiming their bloodline proudly for all to see
But what you see is just for appearances sake
That's right! Their professed devotion is all a fake

The best description for them is "parasite"
Because how they treat their elders just isn't right
Always poor mouthing or borrowing but they never repay
You could call it thievery (in a subtle way)

"Don't have time to visit! I've made other plans!
Can't cancel this date! It's out of my hands!"
Their dates get more money and devotion and time
Than their elders or children; their behavior is a crime

They're never there when you need them the most
And what little is done, they make the biggest boast
They make things harder for their families
With family parasites, you don't need enemies
